After successfully selling out of Humble Bean’s first recipe booklet, I’m excited to announce a new collection of recipes, just in time for the holidays. The new booklet features some my favorite recipes from the past year as well as new ones you won’t find on this site. I’ve made every effort to create a booklet that will be cherished by people who are interested in cooking Japanese food at home. These are not elaborate recipes, but personal favorites that are on regular rotation at my house. In other words, these are tried and true dishes my family loves. I designed and handcrafted each booklet with care, making it a unique compilation. Read on for more info and for the special giveaway!
- Clear Mushroom Soup
- Yoko’s Sesame Dressing
- Kabocha Salad
- Ramen Cabbage Salad
- Spinach with Walnuts
- Kofuki Potatoes
- Tomatoes with Ginger over Rice
- Shimeji and Bacon Pasta
- Oyako Donburi
- Chocolate Mochi Brownies
- Kabocha Shiruko

I’m also having a special giveaway! Buy a booklet before Sunday, December 9, 2012, and you’ll be entered into a special drawing. One randomly selected person will receive a care package of my favorite Japanese snacks. We all know Japanese snacks are awesome! So get your holiday shopping done early and maybe you’ll be the lucky winner. Sorry, U.S. residents only. (Full disclosure: I’m paying for the prize and shipping. This is not a sponsored giveaway.)
For bloggers who want to offer the Humble Bean booklet as a giveaway on their site, I’m offering a special buy-one-get-one-half-off. If you’re interested, please send me a message.

Azusa, your booklets look so cute and elegant at the same time (it’s a unique Japanese competence: cuteness and elegance in one). I might get tempted! Anyway I hope you will sell lots of these and I wish good luck to all the giveaway participants.
Sissi, thank you so much for saying so. I’m happy you think I’ve captured the Japanese aesthetic!
Yay! I already have the first booklet, and some of the recipes I actually make quite often! And I really like the recipe choice in this booklet, so I am happy to order it.
Darya, I’m happy to hear you cook from the first booklet! Thank you and hope you enjoy the recipes in the new one!
I agree with Sissi. This booklet shows the essential concept of Japanese designs. I’m gonna put it on my Xmas shopping list right away!
That’s so sweet of you, Si. Happy Holidays!
